Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
Only on your iPhone. Your settings, My Gear, sessions, notes, checklist and care marks and thermal comfort notes are saved locally by the app. There is no account and no WILDSUITS server, so we never receive or see your data.
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, those backups may include the app’s data, depending on your iOS settings.
How do gear recommendations work?
When you plan a session, WILDSUITS looks at the details you enter, such as the activity and the conditions you describe, together with the gear in My Gear and your own thermal comfort notes from past sessions. It then suggests a kit you can pick or change. Everything is calculated on your device.
Recommendations are general guidance, not safety advice. Always check local conditions and follow lifeguards and local rules.
How do I add gear?
Open My Gear in the app and add a new item, such as a wetsuit, boots, gloves or a hood, with the details you know about it. Items you add become available when you pick a kit for a session, and appear in your care routine.
How do I delete my data?
You can edit or remove entries such as gear items and sessions inside the app. To delete everything, delete the WILDSUITS app from your iPhone: all of its data is removed from the device.
If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, older backups may still contain the app’s data until they are replaced or deleted. You can manage backups in your iPhone settings.
Why doesn’t WILDSUITS use my location?
Because it doesn’t need to. You describe your spot in your own words, for example “north beach”, and that text stays on your device. WILDSUITS asks for no permissions at all: no location, contacts, camera, photos, Health or notifications.
Which languages are available?
The app interface is available in English, French, Spanish and Italian.
Where can I download WILDSUITS?
WILDSUITS is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. This page will be updated when it is available.
Safety first. WILDSUITS gives general guidance, not safety advice. Always check local conditions and forecasts, follow lifeguards and local rules, know your limits, and never rely on the app to decide whether it is safe to go in the water.
